Modern Microwave Oven

The Microwave oven is a new form of oven which is very similar to the traditional kitchen oven. It looks sleeker, more compact and highly efficient when compared to a traditional oven. It works a bit more complicated than a traditional oven; a Microwave oven uses microwaves for heating the food by the process called Dielectric heating, also known as electronic heating, high frequency heating and diathermy, it is actually the process where the radio wave or microwave electromagnetically radiates and heats a dielectric material simultaneously throughout its entire surface by subjecting it to a high voltage, generally the dielectric material is the food we put in it. The heating is caused due to the dipole rotation as a whole.

The microwave oven was first invented and put to practical use by an American company called Amana Corporation in 1967. However the first widely distributed home microwave oven was manufactured by Tappan Stove Company and back then was simply known as Tappan, in 1955.

Microwave Oven Efficient with Technology

Basically a Microwave oven uses the technology to its full capacity with the help of simple devices such as a capacitor, a transformer, a magnetron control circuit, a cavity magnetron, a waveguide and few other things. Since the Microwave oven is a relatively new invention, it traditionally comes fitted with LED display for the present temperature inside the cooking chamber and control units for temperature and pressure control systems.

A new type of microwave, popularly marketed as ‘Optimawave’; ‘Speedcook’ or ‘Advantium’ is actually a hybrid between traditional Convection Ovens and a Microwave oven. It heats up the food extremely fast with the addition of Infra Red along with the microwaves; these are generally a bit more expensive than the regular or standard Microwave oven. These new types of ovens do use up a little bit more energy than a traditional microwave oven but they make up for it with the fact that they heat up much faster.

Since food inside microwaves are subjected to high amounts of heat, the containers in which the food is placed has to be modified, and hence we use the microwave oven safe plastics which are built to withstand the high temperatures of a Microwave radiation.

The Microwave oven comes in various sizes, ranging from a portable desktop, compact, medium capacity, and large capacity to Large Capacity and even built in cabinetry types.

Microwaves have revolutionized the food and hotel industry, enabling them to serve fresher food fast and efficiently and they are used all around the world. Even though a microwave oven uses high technology in reality it is very simple to operate.
